Oppo A59 with 5.5-inch display, 3GB RAM, fingerprint scanner announced


Chinese smartphone maker Oppo, the fourth largest smartphone brand globally, has introduced a new mid-range phone dubbed Oppo A59. The dual-SIM phone sports metal body, supports 4G VoLTE and runs ColorOS 3.0 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. It is Oppo's first AXX series phone to come with fingerprint sensor, which is integrated into the home button that can unlock the device in 0.2 seconds.

The Oppo A59 sports a 5.5-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS 2.5D glass display and is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6750 processor backed by Mali T860 GPU and 3GB RAM. On-board storage is 32GB, which can be further increased via microSD card.

The camera department gets 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, 1.2um and PDAF. For clicking selfies and video calling you get 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1.4um. Connectivity duties are handled by 4G LTE (w/ VoLTE), WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It is fueled by 3075mAh battery, which is good for 14 hours on normal usage.

Priced at CNY 1799 ($275 | Rs. 18,000), the Oppo A59 is now up for pre-order on company website and will go on sale in China starting June 18. It comes in Gold or Rose Gold color options.
